Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama spent money like a drunken queen.
She had a ridiculous staff of 16 people, and a payroll of over $1 million dollars a year.
Back in 2015, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton wrote an article for Newsmax.com highlighting Michelle Obama’s pricey trips overseas.
Fitton explained her FLOTUS trips were lavish, extravagant, and excessive by any reasonable metric.
And even more importantly, they were not “isolated” incidents.
Fitton goes on to explain that Obama’s trips and spending were part of continuum reaching back across to the earliest days of the Obama administration. Recently, Judicial Watch obtained flight expense records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force revealing that Michelle Obama’s June 2015 trip to the United Kingdom and Italy, accompanied by her daughters and mother, cost the taxpayers $240,495.67 in flight expenses alone.
The records were released in response to a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request filed on June 22, 2015. The flights to London, England; and Milan, Venice, and Vicenza, Italy, for the June 15 – 21, 2015, trip totaled 20:35 hours at the cost of $11,684 per hour, bringing the flight expense total to $240,495.67, according to the Air Force documents.
Obama’s bloated staffing was recently highlighted when our current cost-effective FLOTUS slashed the payroll by about $750k dollars.
The royal court that represented former first lady Michelle Obama’s staff has been slashed under current first lady Melania Trump to resemble more of a game of bridge.
Mrs. Trump has a quarter of the staff that Mrs. Obama had in a comparison of their first year in the White House, resulting in “one of the leanest East Wing operations in recent history,” according to Fox News.
With a staff of just four people, costing taxpayers $486,700, the current first lady trumps Michelle Obama’s bloated staff of 16 people. Compared to salaries totaling $1.24 million under her predecessor, Melania Trump is saving taxpayers $750,000.
There are additional staffers other than those attributed to the “first lady” in White House personnel reports, but Trump still has less, nine compared to 24, Fox News reported.
In fairness “bloated” is a misplaced modifier in this headline. It should refer to “payroll.” https://t.co/jC53vIJQFL
