Clarke Spars with Liberal Host Who Considers John Lewis a Civil Rights Treasure

David Clarke appeared on Fox News to discuss Democrat John Lewis and his boycott of the recently opened Civil Right Museum, because President Trump attended.

President Trump has done NOTHING “anti-Civil Rights,” as a matter of fact, he’s a proud precipitant of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which was also bestowed upon Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali.

Clarke Called Lewis irrelevant, saying, “No one cares what John Lewis is doing. He’s been reduced to being a caricature in that he has to pull a political stunt like this. He can’t even honor a civil rights museum opening!”

That comment ignited sparks with Fox News liberal host Ebony Williams, who argued Lewis is one of our nations great “civil rights” treasures.

Many folks beg to differ with that assessment.

Former Sheriff David Clarke shut down Fox News’ liberal host Eboni Williams while discussing Congressman John Lewis’ move to boycott the opening of a civil rights museum because President Trump was there.

“No one cares what John Lewis is doing,” Clarke told Fox News. “He’s been reduced to being a caricature in that he has to pull a political stunt like this. He can’t even honor a civil rights museum opening!”

Clarke, the former sheriff of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin, started off by dismissing Lewis’ status as a civil rights icon, by asking “John who?”

That sarcastic quip infuriated Eboni Williams, a former Democratic strategist who despises Trump.

“John Lewis — he was bloodied on the Selma bridge when he was trying to protest voting rights and organizing sit-ins,” Williams spat back.

John Lewis rose to fame in 1965 when he was beaten to a bloody pulp — by Democratic segregationists — while marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.

Lewis and his supporters have since used his participation in the 1960s civil rights movement to inoculate himself against attacks on his dismal record of public service on behalf of African-Americans.

Like many black Americans, David Clarke applauded Lewis’ bravery 52 years ago, but wants to know: What have you done for us lately?

“John Lewis has become one of the most irrelevant members of Congress,” Clarke said, pointing to the record poverty and crime rates in the black community with Democrats at the helm.

Lewis, 77, made headlines last week after announcing he would not attend the opening of a civil rights museum in Mississippi because President Trump was attending. Lewis has also repeatedly slammed Trump as an “illegitimate president” and boycotted his inauguration.

Clarke said Lewis’ latest boycott was another self-serving PR ploy to deflect attention from his dismal record. “He has to pull a political stunt like this to get news coverage, that’s how bad this is!” Clarke said.

While Eboni Williams insisted that Lewis’ record on civil rights is “undisputed,” Sheriff Clarke isn’t the only black American who says Lewis has done little to help the black community.

In January 2017, author Mason Weaver, a former Black Panther, slammed Lewis as a clueless stooge for the Democratic Party.

Weaver said Lewis used his civil-rights fame to get rich and powerful while doing little to help African-Americans escape the clutches of poverty and crime. “He’s gotten rich as black America has gotten more poor,” Weaver said.
