The DNC is in absolute shambles. Earlier today, Donna Brazile admitted the primary was essentially rigged for Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders.
Month after month, the DNC has been losing badly to the RNC in fundraising and now are firing their top fundraiser in a desperate attempt to turn things around.
The Democratic National Committee fired its top fundraiser Emily Mellencamp Smith on Thursday, according to a report Thursday.
After working in the role for just five months, Smith was released from her position as part of a reorganization of the committee’s senior leadership in an effort to boost fundraising, Politico reported Thursday.
“We are grateful for Emily Mellencamp Smith’s work to help build a fundraising team that will raise the funds to win in 2017, 2018 and beyond. Emily is going back to consulting and helping elect Democrats in upcoming races, including staying on in a consulting role for the DNC at this time,” said DNC press secretary Michael Tyler.
The DNC has been lagging in fundraising efforts in comparison to the Republican National Committee in recent months. From January to September and under the leadership of chairman Tom Perez, the DNC has raised $51 million. The Republican National Committee has garnered $104 million during the same time period.
Smith was hired by the DNC in June after heading up the fundraising effort for Gov. Maggie Hassan’s Senate campaign in New Hampshire.
