Rice, who served as national security adviser in the Obama administration, told investigators with the House Intelligence Committee she unmasked the identities of senior Trump officials because she wanted to know why the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates was in New York in December.

The crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, met with former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to the president, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, and others.

Flynn was fired in February and Bannon left his post at the White House last month.

The crown prince of the United Arab Emirates was in New York during the transition period after the election and before President Trump was sworn into office. Zayed didn’t alert the Obama administration of his visit, a deviation from the standard practice of foreign dignitaries notifying the U.S. government of their travels.

Rice told committee investigators she asked for the Americans named in the classified report to be disclosed internally and said she didn’t share any classified information with the press.
