The Philippine police reportedly blasted water cannons and wielded batons on protesters demonstrating outside of the U.S. embassy in Manila shortly ahead of President Trump’s arrival at the diplomatic compound.
Police suited up in riot gear blocked the left-wing protesters who were carrying signs that read “Dump Trump” and “Down with US Imperialism,” ABC News and Reuters reported Sunday.
“Trump is the CEO of the imperialist US Government,” Alexis Danday, an 18-year-old student, told the news outlet after the authorities successfully got the crowd to disperse.
