BREAKING: The UN Looks to Reverse Trump’s Decision on Jerusalem

President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is not sitting well with the United Nations and they’re reportedly putting measures in place to reverse the decision.

From IJR

President Donald Trump’s Dec. 6 decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel sparked controversy across the world. At the same time, Israelis, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were overjoyed with the news.

Independent Journal Review spoke to Israeli Defense Forces Maj. Amichai Chikli about the announcement from the president. In response, he only had good things to say.

“This is a change in the course of history. It is a change of the spirit, and that’s what’s important,” Chikli told IJR.

The decision did not sit well with many members of the United Nations, though.

While U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley stood up for Israel, her impassioned speech appears to have fallen on deaf ears. So much so that the U.N. could seek to snuff out the major shift in American foreign policy from the Trump administration.

Reuters reported the following Saturday:

The United Nations Security Council is considering a draft resolution that would insist any decisions on the status of Jerusalem have no legal effect and must be rescinded after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized the city as Israel’s capital.

The one-page Egyptian-drafted text, which was circulated to the 15-member council on Saturday and seen by Reuters, does not specifically mention the United States or Trump. Diplomats say it has broad support but will likely be vetoed by Washington.

The council could vote early next week, diplomats said. A resolution needs nine votes in favor and no vetoes by the United States, France, Britain, Russia or China to pass.

Trump has yet to respond to the report. But his opinion of the political body isn’t a high one. When he went to the U.N. in September, he called for major reforms and accused the entity of “bureaucracy and mismanagement.”
